The recent cyberattacks on European countries are aimed to divide society and attack European borders, the European Commission president has said.

Ursula von der Leyen delivered an address at the opening of the European Economic Congress in the southern Polish city of Katowice on Tuesday.

In her speech, von der Leyen made a reference to numerous cyberattacks in Europe having been reported in recent days, calling such actions "hybrid aggression" with the use of advanced technologies.

This aggression is also evidenced in cyber espionage campaigns aimed against Nato members, she said.

According to her, the attacks are aimed to "divide our society" and "attack our borders."

Von der Leyen added that the EU should listen more carefully to Poland's warnings about threats from Russia. (PAP)
