"All of you gathered here are experts, but one more thing needs saying: you hold very different views", Duda remarked. "There would be no discussion, there would be no serious, wise debate if those sitting here were all people who agreed with one another", the president continued.

"When everyone agrees with one another, working on development strategies makes no sense, because there should be many points of view in order to discuss all the pros and cons - in an atmosphere of respect, well-mannered debate and merit-based disputes", Duda explained.

"I would like us to prepare a far-reaching plan for Poland's overhaul and development", the Polish president also said. "My dream is of a strong Polish state. I am confident that thanks to expert support, collaboration with the government and parliament, it will be possible to achieve such a Poland", he added.

The president said it was possible that the NRR membership would be enlarged.

NRR's plenary sessions will be held every two or three months. Day-to-day work will be conducted in 10 sections ranging from the economy, through rural development and agriculture, to education.

Among other things, the council as an advisory body will prepare expert opinions and drafts of the president's legislative initiatives. (PAP)
