Addressing a regional party convention in Białystok (north-eastern Poland), Kaczyński emphasised that the point was to achieve European-level living standards in the entire country, and not only in just some regions. "We want Poland to be a community of equal opportunities," he said.

Referring to regional development, Kaczyński emphasised that all regions must be given equal chances, and underlined that the Via Carpathia route was the greatest of them, "as it is to link the north and south of Europe."

"This will be a new, large transport axis, and it will also mean a change of European geopolitics," he said.

PM Mateusz Morawiecki, who also attended the convention, declared that the Podlasie region (north-eastern Poland) will become not only a geographical centre of Europe, but also an economic one."

"We will be doing our best to allocate more and more funds to this region, which has been forgotten by the Third Polish Republic," he added. (PAP)
