Turnout in Poland's presidential election at 47.89 pct by 5 pm

Turnout in the Sunday presidential election amounted to 47.89 percent by 5 pm, the State Electoral Commission announced during a press conference at 6.30 pm.

Voting in Poland's presidential election began in Poland at 7:00 a.m. Polling stations will close at 9:00 pm. 

The number of Poles eligible to vote on Sunday amounts to 29,526,843 people. There are 25,423 polling stations open in Poland.

Voter turnout during the presidential election held over five years ago, on May 10, 2015, amounted to 34.41 percent by 5 pm.

The State Electoral Commission (PKW) will hold the final press conference at 10:00 pm, after the polling stations close. (PAP)
