Pope Francis’ new apostolic nuncio to Poland, Italian Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, arrived in Warsaw on Monday.

The official was greeted at a Warsaw airport by representatives of the Conference of the Episcopate of Poland and the Polish Foreign Ministry.
Archbishop Pennacchio was appointed the new apostolic nuncio to Poland on August 6 to replace Archbishop Celestino Migliore, who will be the pope’s representative to Russia.
On Thursday the papal envoy will present his credentials to President Andrzej Duda.
Archbishop Pennacchio was born in 1952 in Marano, Italy. He was ordained a bishop by Pope John Paul II in 1999. (PAP) aa/
