Poland needs trusted allies in 2026, minister tells military diplomats
Poland will require courage and close cooperation with reliable allies in 2026, Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz has told members of the military diplomatic service accredited in Poland.
Addressing the diplomats during a meeting on Wednesday, Kosiniak-Kamysz said that Poland was committed to strengthening its alliances in the coming years, with a particular focus on reinforcing transatlantic ties.
He added that "there is no NATO without the United States, no strength and power of the United States without their participation in the North Atlantic Alliance."
According to Kosiniak-Kamysz, nothing should prevent Europe from becoming stronger, to be an even more reliable, key ally for the United States.
"The year 2026 demands courage and cooperation; it requires collaboration with trusted allies," he said, mentioning Poland's solidarity with allied forces on international missions, including operations in Afghanistan.
The minister's remarks come amid repeated criticism of NATO by US President Donald Trump, who has questioned the alliance's usefulness and downplayed the role of NATO troops in Afghanistan. (PAP)
