Poles intend to spend similar amount on holidays as they did last year - poll
More than half of Polish citizens plan to keep their Christmas spending consistent with last year's, according to the latest Santander Consumer Bank report.
The study, published on Wednesday, showed that 56 percent of respondents intended to spend the same amount on Christmas festivities as they did in 2024. Only 19 percent of those polled expected an increase in their spending, while 14 percent were looking to cut back.
Among those planning to spend more, the primary reason cited by 77 percent of participants was rising costs. Other factors include longer gift lists (32 percent) and a desire for higher-quality presents (22 percent).
For those looking to reduce their Christmas expenses, the most common reason was limited finances (31 percent). This concern was particularly prominent among women, with 34 percent citing financial constraints, compared to 26 percent of men. Economic uncertainty also affected 49 percent of respondents with the lowest monthly income, those earning up to PLN 2,999 (EUR 709).
The survey was conducted by the IBRiS pollster between September 27 and October 6 on a representative sample of 1,005 adult Poles. (PAP)
