Polish finance minister in Kyiv for talks on Ukraine reconstruction strategy
Polish Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski arrived in Kyiv on Thursday to prepare the recovery process for Ukraine and bolster bilateral economic ties, the Ministry of Development and Technology has told PAP.
"The purpose of Minister Domanski's visit is also to discuss the opportunities and challenges of economic cooperation, so that the Polish-Ukrainian partnership develops in the spirit of maximum benefits for both sides, in particular - for Polish entrepreneurs and employees," the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
Domanski is in Ukraine with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and his role focuses on laying the groundwork for a Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) to be held in Gdansk, northern Poland, this June.
According to MRiT, the gathering serves as an "organic continuation" of Poland's role as one of Ukraine's primary allies since the outbreak of Russia's all-out war. Moreover, Warsaw is an active member of the EU's ongoing debate on both the reconstruction process and Kyiv's path toward EU membership.
Launched in 2022, the URC format draws high-ranking international politicians, economic actors, and non-governmental organisations to coordinate global support for Ukraine's rebuilding, economic modernisation, and reform efforts both during and after the war.
Each year, the summit is hosted by a different partner nation, and the 2026 event in Gdansk follows the most recent gathering held in Rome in July 2025. (PAP)
