Polish lower house votes to extend ban on state land sales until 2036
The Sejm, the lower house of the Polish parliament, passed a bill on Friday to extend the ban on the sale of state-owned agricultural land for a further ten years.
The ban, which was set to expire on April 30, 2026, would now remain in place until 2036.
The legislation received the support of 427 MPs, with only two voting against, and five abstaining. The bill will now move to the Senate for further consideration.
The new law also increases the area of a state plot that can be sold to a farmer without ministerial approval from 2 to 5 hectares. (PAP)
