Polish MFA in contact with Poles registered to travel to Iran
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has been in contact with Poles who registered their intended trips to Iran, and urged all Polish nationals to leave the country following recent violent anti-regime protests there, the ministry's spokesperson has said.
Maciej Wewior told PAP on Monday that 11 Poles had registered their trip to Iran in the foreign ministry's Odyseusz travel information system.
"Our diplomatic mission has contacted them, we know that three of them either did not go to Iran or have already returned and are no longer in that country," he said.
Asked how Poles could safely return from Iran, Wewior replied that flights from Iran are still available.
"We know that flights [from Iran] are delayed, but they are being restored. There are air connections," he said.
The MFA on Friday urged Polish citizens to immediately leave Iran and advised against all travel to the Middle Eastern country amid the unstable political situation there.
Deadly protests over the economy erupted in Iran's capital Tehran on December 28, 2025. According to Iran Human Rights organisation based in Norway, they have since spread to around 110 locations across the country. Iranian security forces have attempted to violently supress the unrest.
HRANA, a news agency for human rights activists in Iran, reported Monday morning that 544 people had been killed in the protests so far. (PAP)
