Polish, Swiss presidents discuss EU issues, economic ties
President Karol Nawrocki has met with his Swiss counterpart Karin Keller-Sutter to discuss economic cooperation, investment and matters related to the European Union (EU).
Following the talks, held in Warsaw on Thursday, Nawrocki said that Poland and Switzerland enjoyed long-standing, good bilateral relations grounded in shared values such as sovereignty, freedom, and democracy.
"We... also spoke about the Polish-Swiss investment programme which has subsidised many important investments in Poland between the years 2007 and 2017," he said, adding that several Polish cities would benefit from a new round of Swiss financing by the end of the year.
Nawrocki also thanked Switzerland for its clear condemnation of Russia's aggression on Ukraine and for its support following violations of Polish airspace by Russian drones in September.
Furthermore, the two leaders discussed Switzerland's relations with the EU and the Polish president's position on issues concerning the entire bloc, including economic cooperation, migration and the challenges posed by the EU's Green Deal, which aims to make Europe climate-neutral by 2050. (PAP)
