Poll shows overwhelming public backing for nuclear power plant in Poland
A recent survey commissioned by Poland's energy ministry has showed that as much as 92 percent of respondents support nuclear power plant construction in the country.
A significant portion of Poles (79.9 percent) are comfortable with a plant being built near their homes, against 17.4 percent opposing the idea, the poll published on Monday also found.
A total of 94 percent are confident that a nuclear power plant would increase Poland's energy security, and 88 percent believe that nuclear energy helps combat climate change.
"Since 2023, support [for nuclear power plant construction] has remained above 90 percent, while the number of opponents has been decreasing," Wojciech Wrochna, government commissioner for strategic energy infrastructure, said during the presentation of the survey results.
He added that local support for nuclear energy is as important as securing financing or signing implementation agreements.
The survey was conducted by ASM researcher on a sample of 2,000 respondents aged 15-75 between November 24 and December 8, 2025. (PAP)
