Sikorski holds talks with Zelensky, Starmer after London summit
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski held a teleconference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer following Monday's summit in London on the nearly four-year war.
Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Bosacki told the public broadcaster TVP Info on Monday that Poland did not attend the summit because Sikorski had an emergency meeting of the Council of the Baltic Sea States scheduled for the same day, which he had convened.
The gathering in London saw Starmer, Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz discussing the US-led peace talks. They welcomed the progress made in this regard, according to Starmer's office.
Following the summit and calls with absent European allies, the British Prime Minister's Office issued a statement. It said that the leaders of the UK, France, Germany, Ukraine, as well as other partner countries, believe that a critical moment has arrived and that support for Kyiv should therefore be increased.
