Ukrainian-Russian frontline sets boundary of Poland's security - minister
Poland's security depends on Ukraine's continued efforts to resist the Russian aggression, Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz has told PAP, calling anti-Ukrainian sentiments "detrimental" to Poland's national interest.
While in Brzesc Kujawski, central Poland, Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Sunday that it is worth stressing that the country's security extended to the frontline in the war between Ukraine and Russia.
"If Ukraine lost the war, there would be no resolution in such an important issue as commemorating the victims of the Volhynia Massacre," he said, referring to the killings of tens of thousands of Poles by Ukrainian nationalists during World War Two.
"There will be no more security in our region," he added.
Kosiniak-Kamysz added that nowadays, a rare occurrence in the history of Poland, it was not the Polish soldiers who were fighting for the country's security as he warned that any hate-mongering against Ukrainians in Poland was very detrimental to the Polish state.
In his opinion, it is in Poland's national interest to make sure that Ukraine does not lose the war, as its continued resistance against Russia's attacks provides Poland with time "that we gain and can use to boost our defences." (PAP)
