US Ambassador lauds US partnership with Poland, Polish soldiers
US Ambassador to Poland Tom Rose has praised Poland as a model ally and paid tribute to Polish soldiers fighting alongside American troops for nearly 250 years.
On Wednesday, Rose hosted a ceremony marking the 250th anniversary of the United States and launched the official Freedom250 campaign celebrating American values.
At the event held in his Warsaw residence he spoke about the sacrifices of generations of Polish soldiers who fought alongside US forces from the American Revolutionary War through both world wars to missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"We honour Polish soldiers, Polish sacrifice, and the Polish-American partnership," Rose said.
He added that Poland remains a model ally of the US, a nation that takes its security and defence investments seriously and doesn't shift responsibility to outsiders, "exactly the kind of ally President Donald Trump expects."
Rose further argued that collective responsibility is not merely a slogan for President Trump, but "a test of credibility."
"If our allies want the full benefits of our support, they must be like Poland — with real spending, real readiness," he said.
Rose also said that, beyond defence, the Polish-US partnership also rested on energy cooperation, citing the agreement concluded last October between the National Centre for Nuclear Research and the US company Westinghouse on nuclear partnership as well as around USD 30 billion investment in Poland by over 1,600 US companies.
