Duda to attend Pope Francis' funeral
Polish President Andrzej Duda and his wife will attend the funeral of Pope Francis, Duda's aide has announced.
"The president and First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda will take part in the funeral of Pope Francis," Wojciech Kolarski, head of the International Policy Bureau at the President's Office, said at a press briefing held in Warsaw on Tuesday.
He added that Duda had decided to declare April 26, the day of the funeral, a day of national mourning.
Pope Francis died on Monday at 7:35am aged 88, of a stroke, coma, and irreversible cardiovascular collapse.
The funeral mass will take place on Saturday at 10:00am on Saint Peter's Square in the Vatican. After the service, the late pope's body will be laid to rest in the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome, in accordance with his will. (PAP)
