Duda made the statement on Monday morning before his flight to the Swiss resort of Davos, where he will attend the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Duda had good relations with Trump during his first term in office, and each head of state paid visits to the other's country.

He said Trump's second term "will bring Poland four years of good policy" that will strengthen the ties with the United States. According to Duda, Trump "has always treated us in a friendly way and understands very well the problems of our part of Europe.

"Today we can confidently say that our priority, when it comes to the Polish presidency of the EU Council (in January-June 2025 - PAP), is building relations between the EU and the United States," he said.

Duda called Trump's swearing-in ceremony in Washington one of the "important political events that will obviously affect and have been affecting the European and global economies."

Commenting on the expected WEF talks on Ukraine, Duda said they would likely be "dominated by what's happening in Washington, the swearing in of President Donald Trump."

"I look at this event with satisfaction and great calm," Duda said. (PAP)
