Hungary accuses Polish PM of attacking to distract from domestic troubles
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is criticising Hungary to divert attention from political difficulties at home.
In a social media post, Orban argued on Saturday that Tusk’s government was unstable and losing support, claiming the Polish leader had become a pro-war voice in Europe while Hungary pursued "the path of peace." He added that the long-standing friendship between both countries deserved more respect.
On Thursday, Orban met in Budapest with former Polish justice minister Zbigniew Ziobro, who faces a motion in Poland to lift his immunity over alleged misuse of public funds. Ziobro has denied seeking asylum in Hungary.
Following their meeting, Orban accused Warsaw of a political campaign against the right, while Tusk commented on X that Ziobro would be "either in custody or in Budapest." (PAP)
