"Today's laying of a cornerstone (for the construction of the new factory - PAP) is another step towards developing Krasnik, Mesko and the security of Poland," Kosiniak-Kamysz said during the ceremony on Wednesday.

In his speech, the minister also mentioned the European Union's Security Action for Europe (SAFE) defence funding mechanism, noting that one-third of the resources from this instrument would be allocated to Poland.

Mesko, the ammunition producer behind the project, has over a century of manufacturing experience and supplies advanced military products to the Polish Armed Forces and other NATO members. The company employs modern manufacturing technologies in rocket and ammunition production, including sub-calibre munitions. (PAP)
