Labour minister: more jobs for foreigners in Poland
Family, Labour and Social Policy Minister Elzbieta Rafalska announced on Wednesday that the number of foreigners employed in Poland has been on the rise for the last three years.
The number of work permits issued to non-EU nationals by the end of 2017 has been estimated at around 250,000.
Minister Rafalska stressed that Poland's record-low unemployment rate "has increased economic immigration."
Poland's unemployment rate fell to 6.5 percent in November 2017 from 6.6 percent in October.
"There have been more and more jobs for foreigners," Rafalska said, adding that the biggest number of work permits were issued to Ukrainians, who accounted for 85 percent of the total.
"They are followed by Belarusians, Moldovans, Indians, Nepalese, Turks, Armenians, Chinese and Vietnamese," she went on to say.
Poland introduced new regulations regarding seasonal employment of foreign workers on January 1, 2018. (PAP)
