No consent to anti-Polish slur - PM

We condemn all extremism but, I will never allow the citizens of my country being slandered, all the more Poland has twice fallen victim to totalitarianism, PM Beata Szydlo said Friday after the EU summit in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Szydlo's words came in response to international criticism of Poland's November 11 Independence March in Warsaw, some of whose participants carried placards reading nationalist slogans.

"We staunchly condemn all extremism, we condemn conduct that strikes out at Europeans. Poland does not tolerate behaviour which transgresses all acceptable norms. I will never agree to the citizens of my country being slandered, all the more it has twice fallen victim to totalitarianism. There will be no consent to this on the part the Polish government. We may differ, we may have different opinions, but if we want the European family to (...) build its future upon values, then we need respect for all those who are in this family, with Poland being the part of the European family", the PM told a press conference.
