Poland's Lewandowski places fourth in FIFA ranking

Poland's Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich placed fourth in the FIFA world's best player ranking. FIFA Ballon d'Or for the best player in the world for the fifth time went to Lionel Messi of Argentina.

In 2013 Lewandowski placed 13th.

Cristiano Ronaldo placed second and Neymar da Silva was third.

US midfielder Carli Llyod claimed her first-ever FIFA Women's World Player of the Year award. FC Barcelona coach Luis Enrique Martines won the title of FIFA World Coach of the Year for Men's Football and U.S. national team coach Jill Ellis won the title of FIFA World Coach of the Year for Women's Football.

The winners were chosen by the coaches and captains of the national teams as well as by international media representatives invited by FIFA and France Football.

The awards were presented on Monday evening in Zurich. (PAP)
