Ursus tractors to Africa
More than 5,000 tractors from the Ursus plant in Lublin, southeast Poland have been sold to Tanzania and Ethiopia under contracts jointly worth over USD 175 million.
Firms in Ethiopia have purchased over three thousand tractors for USD 120.7 million, Tanzania's The National Service Corporation Sole has bought 2.4 thousand machines for USD 55 million. The deal with Ethiopia also covers sugar cane trailers and the construction of a tractor assembly plant in the country.
Ursus officials told PAP Wednesday that the company's expansion plans in Africa also embraced sales and servicing. They added that Ursus was currently in business talks with other African countries.
Ursus sells its products to many countries worldwide, including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Belgium, Holland, the eastern markets and Scandinavia. Future plans foresee sales to the former Soviet republics Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Last year Ursus sold about 1,4 thousand tractors. The fully Polish-owned company has three production plants in Poland - in Dobre Miasto by Olsztyn, Opalenica by Poznan and Lublin. (PAP)
