QFG Food Group to create 1,200 jobs in central Poland by end-2022
Convenience food producer QFG Food Group says it plans to create about 1,200 new jobs in Poland’s central Mazowieckie province by the end of 2022.
The company, which is 60 percent owned by a US private equity fund, wants to take on about 1,000 new workers in the town of Pionki and a further 200 for a new poultry slaughterhouse in the city of Radom.
In the next five years, QFG Food Group plans to invest nearly PLN 400 million in Pionki, CEO Jaroslaw Krzyzanowski told reporters on Thursday.
"Our main goal is to obtain all the necessary resources for production within a radius of 100 km from Pionki, where the heart of QFG is," said Krzyzanowski.
He added that investing in Pionki is important because of high unemployment in this town, at around 20 percent, according to Krzyzanowski.
QFG Food Group specialises in the production of convenience food, or complete, commercially pre-prepared meals that require little cooking by the consumer. Its main customers are retail chains and food service outlets. About 80 percent of the output is exported to various European markets. QFG's 2016 sales revenue was nearly PLN 210 million.
The company started operating in 2000. A year ago, US private equity fund Highlander Partners acquired a controlling stake in it. (PAP)
