Poland congratulates Trump on presidency
Polish President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk have congratulated Donald Trump on his inauguration as the 47th US president.
"On the day of your swearing-in as the 47th President of the United States of America, please accept heartfelt congratulations from the Polish people," Duda wrote in a post on X on Monday.
"Our countries are bound by years of friendship and faith in the same values: freedom and democracy. I am convinced that your presidency will continue to favour the strengthening of these bonds on the political, security and economic levels," the Polish leader added.
Shortly thereafter, Tusk also took to the same social media platform to share his congratulatory message.
"Congratulations Donald Trump on being sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. All the best from Poland and the EU Presidency," Tusk wrote.
Other world leaders and senior politicians also extended their best wishes to Trump, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. (PAP)
