Poland observes national mourning to honour Pope Francis
A day of national mourning began in Poland at midnight on Friday to Saturday night, ordered by President Andrzej Duda in honour of Pope Francis's funeral.
In accordance with the regulation, during the national mourning the national flags on public buildings are lowered to half-mast.
Pope Francis passed away in the Vatican's Dome de Santa Marta on Easter Monday at 7:35am aged 88, of a stroke, coma, and irreversible cardiovascular collapse.
Polish President Andrzej Duda and his wife are attending Pope Francis's funeral.
The ceremony started at 10:00am on Saint Peter's Square in the Vatican. After the service, the late pope's body will be laid to rest in the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome, in accordance with his will. (PAP)
