Poland to redirect billions in energy investments to local enterprises
Over the coming decade, the state is going to reallocate energy investments worth billions of zlotys to local contractors, Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced at an industry conference.
"In the next ten years, we will spend billions of zlotys on Polish energy industry," Tusk said while at the Energy from Poland - Local First conference on Monday.
During the forum, Minister of State Assets Wojciech Balczun, representatives of the Industrial Development Agency (ARP) and state-owned companies, including the energy giant PGE, signed a declaration to cooperate on increasing the share of the Polish economy in the second phase of offshore wind farm development on the Baltic Sea.
"This is our money - of the Polish taxpayer, Polish companies, Polish (state - PAP) budget, and... I see every reason for this money to remain where possible in Poland," he said, adding that last year, PLN 580 billion (EUR 137 bln) was spent in public procurement procedures.
According to Tusk, when allocating public money on such projects as offshore wind farms or nuclear power plants, state officials must take into account the "patriotic" aspect of their decisions, as this lies in the "national interest" of Poland.(PAP)
