With approximately 90,000 troops from all 31 Nato allies, as well as partner Sweden, the exercise is poised to test and refine NATO's defence plans for reinforcing European defences against a near-peer adversary.

The exercise was officially commenced on January 24 and will conclude at the end of May. It will test the alliance's new defence plans and ability to quickly deploy forces.

Most of the activities will take place in Central European countries, including Poland. As one of host nations of the STDE-24 exercise, Poland will host a significant number of allied troops and equipment on its territory.

As a result, the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces announced in a press statement on Thursday that, from February 12, there would be increased traffic of military vehicles on roads throughout the country.

It also asked that people not publish any information or photos concerning the troop movements.

"Let's be aware of the threats out there!" it appealed. "Any thoughtless activity on the internet, the publishing of photos showing important military facilities, installations or equipment may have negative consequences for security and defence systems."

The movement of military vehicles would be coordinated so as to minimise any disruptions in traffic, the General Staff added.

"The columns will be escorted and safeguarded by the Military Police and traffic control units of the Polish Army, in cooperation with the police. The movements have also been coordinated with the relevant authorities, including local ones."

According to Nato, Steadfast Defender 24, showcases transatlantic unity, strength, and determination in the face of evolving security challenges. As tensions persist in Eastern Europe, this exercise sends a clear message that Nato is prepared to defend its members, its values, and uphold collective security in the Euro-Atlantic area, the military bloc said.
