The two met on Tuesday morning in Jasionka, south-eastern Poland, where Noem was scheduled to take part in the 1st Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) later that day.

Following the meeting with Noem, Siemoniak told a press conference at the Jasionka airport, that they had discussed the issues of border protection, migration and cooperation between police services of the two countries.

"We talked about the fight against drug crime, global drug cartels. The Secretary was particularly interested in the protection of the Polish-Belarusian border," he added.

Siemoniak said he was "very pleased" with the talks.

"This meeting confirmed that our relations with the United States are great, very good. We had a very friendly talk about the important things happening in these relations," he said.

Siemoniak also said that Noem had accepted an invitation to a meeting of the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and Finland, planned in Poland and that he had been invited by her to next year’s FIFA World Cup.

Summing up his talks with Noem, Siemoniak said that her Polish visit was also her first visit to Europe.

"She starts with Poland, she starts with a conversation with the Polish Minister of Internal Affairs. Therefore, this is a historic meeting that opens cooperation between the two ministries," he said. (PAP)
