Poland's unemployment down in April - ministry's estimates
The rate of registered unemployment decreased in April to 6.0 percent from 6.1 percent in March, the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy said on Friday.
According to the ministry's preliminary data, the number of registered job seekers stood at 935,800 at end of April, a decrease of 14,100 from the previous month, but 133,100 more in yearly terms.
The ministry said that a significant reduction in labour activation programmes has contributed to a higher unemployment rate compared to last year.
Poland continues to have one of the lowest jobless rates in the EU. In March 2026, the unemployment rate in Poland, calculated according to the EU's statistical office Eurostat methodology, was 3.3 percent, while the euro zone average was 6.2 percent. (PAP)
