Talking on Monday to private broadcaster Radio Zet, Krzysztof Gawkowski said that "after a certain period of ruling, there always comes a greater turning point," as more than a year has passed since the transfer of power to the current coalition government from conservative predecessors.

"The critical moment is the presidential election," he added, referring to the ballot due on May 18 this year.

Gawkowski said that "larger, more substantial" changes in the government composition and structure can be expected, which may concern not only personnel, but also the number of ministries.

He added that during coalition meetings Prime Minister Donald Tusk argues that some departments should cooperate more closely in order to achieve better logistics and better communication within the ministries.

"The end result ... we will no longer be talking only about shifting individual elements and areas, but ministries can merge," Gawkowski said. (PAP)
