Polish woman fatally stabbed by colleague in German clothing store
A 41-year-old Polish woman was fatally stabbed by her 25-year-old Afghan colleague at a clothing store in Krefeld, western Germany, the newspaper Bild reported on Saturday.
The suspected perpetrator is said to have stabbed the woman on Wednesday evening at the New Yorker clothing shop, shortly before the end of the working day.
"They had only been working together for a few weeks, but Magda... trusted her Afghan colleague. Now she is dead. She was stabbed - and her employee has been taken into custody," Bild wrote.
"The Afghan man fled the building with the bloodied weapon. When passers-by saw a man with a knife, they immediately called the emergency services. Two minutes later, the perpetrator practically ran straight into the arms of the officers and was arrested," the German newspaper's website said.
Police said the fatal attack occurred around 7:20pm in the store's foyer, where the suspect and victim, who were colleagues, had been present. The motive remains unknown.
The suspect was living in private accommodation and held a valid work permit. If money found on him at the time of his arrest is confirmed to be from the store’s takings, he could face a robbery-related murder charge. (PAP)
