Nawrocki, EU peers hold talks with Trump, Zelensky
Polish President Karol Nawrocki and European leaders took part in a teleconference with US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following yet another round of peace talks.
On Sunday, Trump and Zelensky met in Florida, USA, to discuss ending Russia's war against Ukraine. During the video conference with European leaders, they "discussed the status of peace talks," Nawrocki's Office wrote on X.
Nawrocki thanked Trump for his commitment to the peace process and pointed to Poland's crucial position as Ukraine's main aid hub.
"Today's conversation shows that any arrangements concerning peace and security in the region must be made among all interested parties," the Polish president wrote. "The determination of the American side and the unity of the European countries' position give a real chance to end the war caused by the Russian Federation."
Both Zelensky and Trump signalled progress in the negotiations following the Florida meeting. Trump assessed that around 95 percent of issues had been agreed upon, with the "thorny" question of territory remaining unresolved. Zelensky hailed Kyiv's success in obtaining all necessary security guarantees. (PAP)
