The theme of this year's charity event, involving some 120,000 volunteers, is "Lungs after the pandemic," with donations set to go to pulmonary wards for children and adults across the country.

The money raised will finance the purchase of diagnostic imaging equipment, magnetic resonance imaging hardware and pulmonary rehabilitation equipment, among other specialist hardware, to help hospitals with lung care after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The fundraising is accompanied by a large number of events, including concerts, sports competitions, auctions, and outdoor performances.

During 31 Finals, WOSP raised nearly PLN 2 billion (EUR 458 mln) and purchased around 71,500 medical devices.

Last year, the organisation set a fundraising record when it collected more than PLN 243 million (EUR 56 million) for medical equipment to help diagnose and prevent sepsis. (PAP)
