Duda, who is currently on a tour of Southeast Asia, met with Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to discuss various topics including economic relations, investment opportunities, cybersecurity, defence and emerging technologies. According to Duda, major Singaporean firms have shown a keen interest in Poland's Central Transportation Hub (CPK) project and its broader implications for the EU market.

"I assured the president that Poland can act as a gateway to the EU and, given its development potential, is an excellent foundation for dynamic growth," Duda remarked.

The two leaders also discussed the operations of global port operator PSA in Gdansk, northern Poland, and explored the potential for developing a new combat vehicle with the Singaporean ST Engineering firm to replace the Rosomak armoured personnel carrier. Talks on the matter are ongoing.

In addition, Duda said that Poland was particularly interested in Singapore's advancements in digitalisation, as well as its application of AI and robotics in port operations. He also thanked Shanmugaratnam for Singapore's unequivocal condemnation of Russia's aggression towards Ukraine, a stance he said is rare among Southeast Asian nations.

The Polish president is set to participate in a business forum with Singaporean and Polish firms on Friday and and will also meet with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. (PAP)
