The BIG InfoMonitor poll, released on Wednesday, found that the country's citizens will spend the most on Christmas presents (PLN 447; EUR 106) and food (PLN 413; EUR 98), noting a decrease of 18 and 21 percent, respectively.

"This is a very clear sign of growing cost pressure, which is prompting Poles to tighten their belts and redefine their festive spending habits," said Waldemar Rogowski, a pollster analyst. "We are seeing a shift from impulse buying to conscious budget management."
