Poland's deputy foreign minister has confirmed that Elon Musk will participate in a panel discussion on online anti-Semitism that will be held in the southern Polish city of Krakow.

Andrzej Szejna, on Friday, confirmed the participation of Musk in the event and also said that, as deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he would also be in attendance.

"Everyone acknowledges what a great threat nationalism, populism, racism, and all manifestations of xenophobia and hatred are to democracy, human rights, and the EU," Szejna noted. "I think this is probably the reason why Mr. Musk is among the invited guests who have confirmed their presence."

The European Jewish Association (EJA), the organiser of the event, said that the conference would have "its primary focus honing in on the disconcerting surge of anti-Semitism in Europe that has been escalating since the 7th of October."

It was reported by Bloomberg on Thursday that Musk, the owner of Tesla and the X platform, is scheduled to take part in a discussion with American right-wing columnist Ben Shapiro during the symposium on online anti-Semitism, as well as in a ceremony at the former German Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz on January 22-23. The event is organised to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which falls a week later.

Musk faced accusations of anti-Semitism in November when he agreed with an anti-Semitic post on his social media platform X, which claimed that Jewish communities push "hatred against Whites." The post also referenced "hordes of minorities" flooding Western countries, a popular anti-Semitic conspiracy theory.

His post was condemned by the White House and a number of large advertisers, including Disney, which announced a boycott of the platform.

Musk later admitted that his statement was "one of the stupidest things" he had ever done. (PAP)
