Korean jets in Polish Air Force to get Sidewinder missiles
Poland has signed a contract for the delivery of the air-to-air AIM-9L Sidewinder missiles for the South Korean FA-50 light combat and training jets, making the aircraft ready for combat.
The former government signed a contract with South Korea in 2022 for the purchase of 48 FA-50s to serve as light fighters and training aircraft, but until today they had no weapons systems.
"The FA-50 aircraft is finally armed, it is finally ready not only for training, but also for combat operations," Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said at a contract signing ceremony on Monday.
Also on Monday, Poland signed a contract for 12 Rosomak medical evacuation vehicles.
Kosiniak-Kamysz added that more "good news" about military contracts would be announced later this week. (PAP) jd/mf
