Polish Chamber of Commerce opens in Washington DC

The creation of a Polish Chamber of Commerce in the United States is yet another milestone on the road to building Poland's presence in the US, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at a joint conference with US Ambassador Paul W. Jones on Wednesday.

During the conference, held at the PM's Office in Warsaw, the officials announced the creation of the Polish trade-promoting institution in the United States.

Speaking of Poland's recent decision to purchase the US-made Patriot air and missile defence system, PM Morawiecki said "it was a huge milestone in building even closer ties, even closer relations" between Poland and the United States.

"What's happening before our very own eyes is not only military relations," he noted.

"It's a perfect example of a 'win-win' situation, and in this case we can also clearly see that attractive economic conditions, stable macroeconomic foundations in terms of public debt and budget deficit are also interesting issues for entrepreneurs who want to take up various joint undertakings, in this case Polish-American ones," Morawiecki said.

"I'm very pleased with it, in this way we are creating a new platform, a space for bolstering Polish-US co-operation not only in the defence and political areas," PM Morawiecki said, stressing the importance of the Polish-Croatian Three Seas initiative of strengthened co-operation among countries located between the Baltic, Adriatic and Black Seas.

"Now we're entering yet another stage of strengthened Polish-US relations. The establishment of the Polish-US chamber is such a milestone, yet another one on the road towards building a strong presence of our business on the American continent, in the United States, but also towards strengthening the presence of US entrepreneurs in Poland," Morawiecki said.

Paul W. Jones assessed trade and investment relations between Poland and the United States as good. "They may become even better, there is potential for growth," he declared, speaking in Polish.

The ambassador said that an increasing number of Polish firms wanted to invest in the US and stressed that "America is waiting for investors."

According to Jones, Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner is going to visit Poland next week. Illinois "is open to Polish business and Polish investment," he added.

"Chambers of commerce are perfect partners in economic growth and job creation. Our American Chamber of Commerce in Poland is an excellent example of that," the ambassador said. (PAP)
