Law and Justice (PiS), the dominant party in the governing coalition, intends to run with its junior partner Sovereign Poland in this autumn’s general election, the government’s spokesman said on Tuesday.
But Piotr Mueller added that the small party, which is led by Zbigniew Ziobro, the justice minister, must have "realistic expectations" - an apparent reference to the limited power PiS believes its ally now wields over the coalition.
His words will add further spice to the heated relationship between Mateusz Morawiecki, the prime minister, and Ziobro.
In a recent magazine interview, Ziobro, a noted hawk on European affairs, said that Morawiecki had been "wrong in all the most important EU decisions."
Yesterday, the prime minister responded by likening the justice minister to a cow that moos a lot but produces little milk.
When asked about the tension between two, Mueller said it was "a dispute, not a conflict," but he added that it was "our (PiS - PAP) intention" to run on a single-party list in the elections.
"If two parties are ready for such an agreement, then it's easier, but you should also set realistic expectations," he added.
Mueller said that Sovereign Poland, according to recent polls, has only support ranging between 0.7-1 percent.
"It is difficult for such a party to demand some serious proposals on the electoral lists," he added. (PAP)
