President Duda made the statement following Warsaw talks with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani on an official visit to Poland on Friday.

Speaking after plenary talks, President Duda referring to Qatar's gas deliveries stressed that under this year's agreement they will be enlarged two-fold against levels agreed on in a 2009 gas delivery contract.

The Polish president hoped the visit by the Emir of Qatar would translate into broader Polish-Qatari relations, both in economic and cultural dimension "as well as cooperation in health protection".

Referring to the Friday Polish-Qatari economic forum, the president noted that its participants discussed various forms of economic cooperation. "Underway are talks on cooperation in the food processing and the pharmaceutical branches".

The president noted that sides signed four inter-governmental agreements covering economic cooperation. He added Poland counts on domestic companies, especially from the construction branch, "to take part in the investment high time now taking place in Qatar".

President Duda added that his talks with the Emir of Qatar also concerned the peace process in the Middle-East as well as military cooperation. "I hope that Qatar will be interested in Polish arms industry's offer".

Al Thani called Polish-Qatari relations very good, and said there were no major contentment points in bilateral ties.

Al Thani said that his talks with Duda also concerned broader economic cooperation, as well as cooperation in culture, education, tourism and defence. He especially stressed Qatar's interest in Polish military equipment.

He also informed about the signature of an annex to a Polish-Qatari LNG agreement.

Al Thani noted he and Duda also discussed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and terrorism, and noted that the biggest terrorism victims were Arab and Muslim communities. Commenting on the roots of today's terrorism, the Emir of Qatar observed that it was "the harvest of the mistreatment of citizens by Middle-Eastern rulers over decades".

Al Thani also expressed hope that his country's relations with Poland would continue to develop "in various fields".(PAP)
