Nowacka was the leader after the fencing, swimming and horse riding events, but did less well in the shooting and running, ending up third with 1349 points, behind Australia's Chloe Esposito (1372 points) and France's Elodie Clouvel (1356 points).
This is the first Olympic medal in the history of the women's modern pentathlon in Poland. The discipline made its Olympic debut at the Sydney Games in 2000.
