WTA Finals – Polish player Agnieszka Radwańska wins WTA Masters tournament for the first time in her career

Radwańska, seeded sixth, beat fourth-seeded Petra Kvitova (6-2, 4-6, 6-3), in the WTA Finals in Singapore on Sunday. This is the biggest victory in the career of the Polish player.who had won 16 tournaments so far.

WTA Finals is the most prestigious women tennis event of the season. The tournament is contested by eight singles players and eight doubles teams. The singles features eight players in a round robin event, split into two groups of four and each player meets the other three players in her group, with the top two in each group advancing to the semifinals. The winners of each semifinal meet in the championship match.

Radwańska became the first player in the history of this tournament to win the title while loosing two matches and winning only one in the round robin stage.

Sunday match lasted two hours and five minutes and it was the ninth between two players. Radwanska led by a set and 3-1 in the second before Kvitova started a winning streak of seven consecutive games winning the second set. The Czech led 2-0 in the deciding set, before Radwanska fought back to 3-3 and then won the last three games.
