Ruling party wins elections to provincial assemblies - late poll
The ruling Law and Justice (PiS) won a total of 33 percent of provincial assembly votes in Sunday's local elections, according to a late poll conducted by the Ipsos research group.
A late poll is a survey conducted on the election day, after the end of the vote, on the basis of partial results obtained from a random group of polling stations.
In the late poll, PiS was followed by the Platforma Obywatelska-Nowoczesna Civic Coalition with 26.7 percent. The Polish People's Party (PSL) was backed by 13.6 percent of the voters and the Democratic Left Alliance-Left Together - by 6.6 percent, Ipsos wrote.
The Kukiz'15 movement received 5.9 percent of votes and independent grouping "Bezpartyjni Samorządowcy" - 5.8 percent, Ipsos reported.
According to Ipsos, other parties running for provincial assemblies did not win any seats as their results were below the electoral threshold.
The turnout reached 53.4 percent.
According to an exit poll also conducted by Ipsos, PiS won a total 32.3 percent of provincial assembly votes. The Platform Obywatelska-Nowoczesna Civic Coalition was second with with 24.7 percent. The Polish People's Party (PSL) was backed by 16.6 percent of the voters while the Kukiz'15 movement by 6.3 percent. The independent grouping "Bezpartyjni Samorządowcy" gained 6.3 percent of the votes and the Democratic Left Alliance - Left Together had 5.7 percent. (PAP)
