Poland, Denmark sign deal on Baltic Pipe system operator
Poland's gas infrastructure firm Gaz-System will be the operator of some elements of the Denmark-Poland Baltic Pipe seabed gas pipeline under a bilateral agreement between Poland and Denmark signed on Tuesday.
The deal regulates the operation of certain elements of the Baltic Pipe that are located outside the Polish territory and its exclusive economic zone, but whose construction will be financed by Poland. This concerns a section of the pipeline and the Everdrup gas pumping station in Zealand that will be operated by Gaz-System.
The agreement was signed in the Polish southern city of Katowice on Tuesday by Denmark's Minister of Energy, Utilities and Climate Lars Christian Lilleholt and Poland's government commissioner for strategic energy infrastructure, Piotr Naimski, in the presence of Polish Energy Minister Krzysztof Tchórzewski.
The parties reaffirm in the agreement that they will support investors in the preparation and implementation of the Baltic Pipe project so that it is completed by October 1, 2022. (PAP)
