Although the technology of Christmas glass balls manufacturing has remained unchanged for years, they are also subject to changeable fashions and tastes that determine their shapes, colours and way of decorating.

The GMC factory in Staszow, south Poland, is a major Polish glass ball exporter, shipping its Christmas tree decorations to the United States and Europe.

"We have Christmas here all year round," says Lucyna Gozdek, co-owner of the GMC factory as she explains that most glass balls are made in May, June and July when major orders from the United States come. "Americans prepare for Christmas earlier, Europe - a bit later," she adds.

"The technology of glass balls manufacturing has been the same for years. Balls are blown from glass pipes of different diameters, thickness and sizes," Lucyna Gozdek explains. The company needs to adapt to the current preferences of the market, along with changing fashions and tastes, she adds. (PAP)
