Treasury minister announces candidate for new WSE CEO
Malgorzata Zaleska is the Polish Treasury Ministry's candidate for the post of new president of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, Treasury Minister Dawid Jackiewicz told reporters on Thursday.
"After many months of turbulent events, today the time has come to navigate the Warsaw Stock Exchange into calm waters", Jackiewicz told a press conference at the WSE.
He added that Zaleska "has been involved in the financial market for 20 years and has had the opportunity to take part in the work of institutions of key importance for the state's financial security network".
Zaleska's career has included working on the WSE supervisory board, the management of the Bank Guarantee Fund and the National Bank of Poland management board, of which she was a member until mid-2015.
"Further development of the Polish capital market requires, among other things, cooperation and listening to people representing the capital market community", Zaleska told the press conference.
"I think further financial education is very important, so that the exchange is perceived as the economy's circulatory system and its strength as well as being a place for safe investments", Zaleska also said.
The new WSE president is to be appointed by the stock exchange's general shareholders' meeting, which has been called for January 12. Zaleska is to replace Pawel Tamborski who resigned in December 2015. (PAP)
