Poles will earn EU average wage in 15 years - minister

In 15 years' time the average Polish citizen will earn as much as an average European Union citizen, deputy PM and Development Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said outlining a new development plan for Poland approved by the government on Tuesday.

"The biggest number of Poles make PLN 2,000-something (per month), which is too little. Through our equitable development programme ... we want to add value to the jobs of people earning lower wages", Morawiecki said.

"We are deeply convinced that implementing this plan will lead to higher wages for more Polish citizens with every year", he added.

The government plan envisages an increase in purchasing power in Poland from the current 69 percent of the EU average to the EU average by 2030, the minister also said. (PAP)
