Polish researchers working on new coronavirus test

Researchers in Gdansk, northern Poland, are working on a new coronavirus test which could prove considerably less expensive than the currently used tests.

Scientists from the Gdansk-based Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine Institute and the SensDx company are aiming for a test that could be purchased in regular pharmacies and carried out at home from throat fluid samples. The results would then be sent to a physician for evaluation. The tests will also be applicable in workplaces, and are estimated to cost under PLN 100 (EUR 21.9)
