Johnson Matthey invests in Gliwice

The Johnson Matthey Battery Systems battery manufacturer will open a new plant and develop its R&D unit in Gliwice in south Poland's Silesia industrial basin. In future the company plans to expand the factory to produce new battery types.

The plant, to open in the first half of October, will employ 750 including 600 production staff. It will replace an earlier Johnson Matthey plant in the city.

Johnson Matthey Battery Systems is part of the London-quoted Johnson Matthey Group. The company specialises in batteries for electric scooters and other electric vehicles, tools and medical equipment. (PAP)
